In 1987 if you wanted a home loan in SA, you had to go to either a bank or credit union and hoped you made the right choice.
Bernie Lewis, our founder, thought there had to be a better way of finding the right home loan for you. So he established Bernie Lewis Home Loans and it grew to be one of the most recognised and respected brands in the South Australia finance industry.
Bernie was an entrepreneur: innovative, inspirational, and able to think differently and recognise an unmet need. He recognised that people’s financial needs weren’t cared for - they needed a trusted adviser to assess their options and recommend the right solution.
Bernie’s vision was to provide choice of solutions for all financial needs. His entrepreneurial skills were inherited by his children and his vision lives on in the leadership of the second generation of the Lewis family.
Bernie and his wife, Christine, tragically died in a plane crash in New Zealand in 2005. Their son, Mark, who was working in the business at the time, became the Managing Director.
Mark continued the family vision for the business and in 2007, Bernie Lewis Home Loans merged with KFG Wealth Management, introducing another brand (Bernie Lewis Wealth Management) and service for Bernie Lewis. Bernie Lewis Wealth Management offered its clients advice on super, insurance, investments and retirement planning.
Today, Bernie Lewis represents its founder's values and family vision for integrated financial advice. Mark Lewis is the Executive Chairman after spending many years in the daily business operations, from technology to mortgage advice and most recently, the Managing Director. Mark's career started out as a pilot in the Australian Air Force and his value for security remains; but instead his focus is helping Australians become financially secure.
Mark leads the business with Stefan Lipkiewicz, the Chief Executive Officer. Stefan began his career in financial services over 20 years ago. Whilst he has worked for a few major financial services companies in which he helped lead them to great success, Stefan's passion is in helping Australian families own their own home and become financially independent.
In 2010 the business consolidated the brands Bernie Lewis Home Loans and Bernie Lewis Wealth Management to the one business name and brand, Bernie Lewis. This rebrand represents our vision and integrated advice approach we take with your financial needs, including your home loan, super, insurance and investments. This means you’ll speak with fewer people and get a better financial result whilst still being offered choice of providers and solutions.
The business continues to lead the industry with innovation and its direction is fostered by a considerate approach to providing opportunities and solutions for its clients and staff.
